5GTN+

5G Test Network+ (5GTN+) project, hosted by University of Oulu and VTT Oulu in cooperation with over 20 industry partners, provides a scalable environment for developing future business models and services as well as for testing and developing key 5G technology components and related support functions. 5GTN+ provides options for open or more controlled access for the test network users. In the controlled network, partners can test their innovations in a safe and restricted environment. Open network offers an open platform where interactive value creation with users and customers can happen.

5GTN+ is an innovation platform for future network technology and services. It provides live experience from digital future for application and service testing with network-level performance. The project focuses, instead of pure technology, more to service/application driven research targeting to support bringing spearhead technology and applications from different vertical application areas to real use.

5GTN+ goals:

  • Continue the 5G test network development (started for the Oulu site in the 5GTN project during 2015-2016) towards a versatile 5G service/application development platform boosting cooperation and enabling synergy benefits for the whole 5G ecosystem.
  • Realise vertical use cases and bring business vertical solution(s) to trial maturity in their target environment.
  • Develop and evaluate 5G technologies focusing on results that can be turned to real products and allow a forerunner position for the industry partners in 5G technology and service creation.
  • Strengthen cooperation between research projects, related organizations and other test networks.
  • Facilitate smooth utilisation of the test network services for the partner companies.
